]The 4th October marked the 8th Annual Awards Dinner held by Leasing World and this year did not fail to impress. With approximately 250 attendees the awards had outgrown its previous venue and moved to the swanky London Hilton Bankside.
Hitachi Business Finance did a great job as the lead sponsor of the event and the Twitter Wall, which Liberty Leasing sponsored, seemed to be well received with some great interaction on the night.
Feel free to watch the video, which has a selection of tweets from the night:
Next Generation Award Winner | Alex Cooper
Liberty Leasing were shortlisted for 3 Awards on the night; UK Independent Lessor of the Year, Broker Champion of the Year and Next Generation Award. Alex Cooper, Senior Account Manager was the successful recipient of the Next Generation Award.
The Next Generation Award criteria was explained as:
“We are panning in the industry’s talent pool of young people for the glint of gold that could signal a bright future ahead. Evidence of hard work, a mark already made, perhaps studying in their own time to top up their qualifications and skills, personality too; as much about “workhorses” as “racehorses.”
Liberty felt that Alex Cooper would be suitable for this Award and Paul Sheedy, Sales & Operations Director championed Alex’s submission by saying:
“At Liberty we’ve always held a strong belief in finding new talent and attracting people with the right attitude and personality. Alex joined us a young, enthusiastic character who was eager to learn. His successes and achievements are easy to highlight with figures, but I feel it’s important to personally mention that he is an asset to the Liberty family and is helping to inspire and mentor younger colleagues starting their careers as he did. I speak for all the management at Liberty when I say Alex would be a very worthy recipient of the Next Generation Award.”
Promotion Time at Liberty
This Award follows a promotion just last month where Alex was promoted to Senior Account Manager along with Martin Clegg who was also made Senior Account Manager and John Harding was promoted to Regional Sales Manager. This May saw Alex’s most successful month to date where he wrote £1.24m worth of business.
Alex Cooper commented on his win of the Award by saying:
“Thank you to everyone who has helped me over the past 5 years, especially Lewis Banford. Liberty Leasing is such a supportive company to work for and the finance industry is like no other. To be rewarded by my peers is a phenomenal feeling.”
Alex was mentored and managed by Lewis Banford, Area Manager (South East) and when asked about Alex he commented:
“I couldn’t be more proud of how far Alex has come in his time at Liberty, his sales performance alone has been exceptional, but more than this he has become an invaluable member of the Liberty Family and a real personality in the business. I also see him pass on his knowledge and experience to subsequent recruits through his provision of Training and hands on guidance. He also spends time with our Legal & compliance teams – no doubt taking an interest from his own Legal education.
Alex has also won over a lot of Brokers in a relatively short time, this is no mean feat given the challenges young people in this industry face to overcome preconceptions and win over confidences. The fierce competition in our sector of the market makes it very difficult to get a relationship with a Broker off the ground but Alex has excelled in this area. I see a long and bright future for Alex in the finance industry – my hope is that all of it will be working alongside me at Liberty Leasing!”
