In a brand new initiative for 2020, Hampshire based Asset Finance Company, Liberty Leasing announce their yearlong ‘Charity of the Year’ partnership, chosen by their staff members.
Commercial Director, Paul Sheedy explains, “This year we have introduced a new approach for charitable giving in our business, which aims to provide a structured and focussed approach to making a real difference to the charities we support. Having a ‘Charity of the Year’ means that we can focus all of our fundraising efforts to achieve the maximum benefit for one chosen charity. Our staff are always very supportive with our efforts in this area and take an active role in fundraising, therefore it feels only right that they are actively involved deciding which charity we choose to partner with.”
The staff at Liberty Leasing submitted over 20 amazing charities for consideration, which were then shortlisted down to three by the Directors. The shortlist was then passed over to the staff to allow them to vote, resulting in the Countess Mountbatten Hospice being selected as Liberty’s inaugural charity of the year.
Countess Mountbatten Hospice provides expert medical, nursing, psychological, social and spiritual end of life care to patients, their families and friends, across Southampton and the wider county of Hampshire. It also provides bereavement support for individuals, families and groups.
The partnership is off to a great start with staff taking part in a post-Christmas clear-out and donating over 15 bags of items to be sold at Countess Mountbatten Hospice’s charity shops. Liberty also sponsored the Physical Challenge of the Year award at the charity’s annual Corporate Awards last week. Worthy winners, Blake Morgan LLP took part in the ABP Half Marathon, the Romsey Relay and a skydive, all in aid of Countess Mountbatten Hospice!
Managing Director, Allan Clegg comments, “All of the charities put forward for consideration are extremely worthy, however this partnership with Countess Mountbatten Hospice is particularly poignant, as a number of Liberty’s staff have seen the work of charity first-hand, having had loved ones cared for at the hospice. We are very pleased to be embarking on this journey with them, and we are hoping to make a real difference this year.”
Earlier this month, Countess Mountbatten Hospice sent Corporate Fundraiser, Rachel Rawlings, along to visit Liberty Leasing’s office in Warsash and kick off the yearlong partnership. Rachel met with the staff and was also invited to introduce the charity and the vital work that they do.
Speaking about the new partnership with Liberty, Rachel said, “We’re incredibly excited to have been chosen as Liberty Leasing’s first ever Charity of the Year! The whole team have some great ideas and lots of enthusiasm for the year ahead, so we are sure it is going to be a really successful year, raising vital funds for the hospice. We can’t wait to get started!”
All events in support of the company’s fundraising efforts will be shared on their website www.libertyleasing.co.uk and social media pages using the hashtag #LibertyCMH.
