Liberty ‘on the grid’ for a fourth year of sponsorship of the FRS Race Team and announcing the debut of the Historic Delta FF2000!
Beginning with one car the ‘FRS Arrow’ back in 2015, the FRS Trace team have since added a second car the FRS Arrow2 and new for 2018 sees the debut of the historic “Delta FF2000” in Liberty colours.
The Delta FF2000 was designed by Sir Patrick Head who went on to be a founder of Williams F1 with Sir Frank Williams in 1977. The FRS FF2000 car is a Delta T80 (from 1980) and was one of the last built. Many of these cars disappeared into storage in the 1980s as other single seater formula developed. There are many FF2000 cars still in existence across Europe and this one like many others was rescued from a barn in Holland and completely rebuilt by Iain Rowley – an old racing buddy of FRS Founder John Moore, who raced with him in the 1990s.
The FRS Delta FF2000 will be driven by John who has many years of driving experience and was regularly driving cars of this type in the 1990s. However he is now in his retirement and is not as quick as he was when a younger man. In his first race at Donington Park in April John managed an encouraging 10th in a field of 29 and first of the 6 Deltas racing. This is the benchmark set for the coming season. John will also be competing in Europe this summer at Charade (Fr) and Zandvoort (Holland), as well as in the UK at Croft, Oulton, Brands Hatch & Silverstone in October.
The existing two Arrow2 Cars will also be competing in Sports Specials Events at Mallory, Rockingham, Pembery, Cadwell, Donnington and Snetterton throughout the summer.
Lewis Banford, Area Manager commented:
“It’s great for us to be able to announce another year work working with FRS and we share their enthusiasm for the sport. It will also be great to see a Historic FF2000 racing at some of the UK’s iconic circuits in Liberty colours. As one of only a handful of UK finance companies able to finance track, racing and historic cars we value the exposure among racing circles. We look forward to seeing all 3 cars in action this year and wish John and the other drivers the best of luck!”
