January marked an exciting start to 2026 for the asset finance community as The Simply Cup returned for another fun day of football and fundraising. This much-anticipated 5-a-side tournament brings together teams from across the industry to compete on the pitch while supporting causes that truly matter.
Representing everyone back at the office, Team Liberty took to the field alongside 34 other teams at Powerleague Battersea, battling it out for the cup while helping to raise funds for charity.
Playing for a Cause
The Simply Cup has become a firm favourite in the asset finance calendar, bringing colleagues and competitors together on the pitch. Once again, the tournament raised funds for Cancer Research UK, supporting vital research into prevention, diagnosis, and treatment that touches so many lives. In total, the event raised over £32,000 for for this incredible charity.
We were also proud to support Sophie’s Legacy, our local Charity of the Year, dedicated to improving the hospital experience for children and their families, supporting early diagnosis, and driving funding into childhood cancer research. We helped raise awareness of their important work by proudly featuring their logo on our kit, and our additional fundraising efforts brought in £300 for Sophie’s Legacy, providing valuable support close to home.
Having made it to the final last year in a similar tournament, Team Liberty had hopes of lifting this year’s trophy. Sadly, it wasn’t to be this time, with the lads exiting in the first knockout round after successfully making it out of the group stages.
Thank You for the Support
We’re proud to have started the year by coming together with the wider industry for such a great cause. Thank you to everyone involved for organising another brilliant event, to all those who donated, and to the Liberty team for taking their time out and braving the cold for a great cause.
